Data Compression in Cloud Hosting
The ZFS file system which is run on our cloud Internet hosting platform uses a compression algorithm named LZ4. The latter is substantially faster and better than any other algorithm available on the market, particularly for compressing and uncompressing non-binary data i.e. internet content. LZ4 even uncompresses data faster than it is read from a hard disk, which improves the overall performance of Internet sites hosted on ZFS-based platforms. Due to the fact that the algorithm compresses data quite well and it does that quickly, we can generate several backups of all the content stored in the cloud hosting accounts on our servers every day. Both your content and its backups will need reduced space and since both ZFS and LZ4 work extremely fast, the backup generation will not change the performance of the web hosting servers where your content will be kept.
Data Compression in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated hosting account with our firm, you'll be able to experience the advantages of LZ4 - the powerful compression algorithm used by the ZFS file system which is behind our advanced cloud Internet hosting platform. What separates LZ4 from all the other algorithms out there is that it has an improved compression ratio and it is much faster, in particular when it comes to uncompressing web content. It does that even quicker than uncompressed information can be read from a hard disk drive, so your sites will perform faster. The higher speed comes at the expense of using plenty of CPU processing time, which is not a problem for our platform as it consists of numerous clusters working together. Besides the superior performance, you will also have multiple daily backup copies at your disposal, so you'll be able to restore any deleted content with a couple of clicks. The backup copies are available for an entire month and we can afford to keep them as they take a lot less space compared to traditional backups.
